If I were to tell you about an apocalypse-proof asset—one that not only promises substantial short-term and long-term value appreciation but also enhances your well-being, adds aesthetic charm to your surroundings, exhibits exponential growth potential, and even offers the delightful possibility of dipping its parts into luscious melted dark chocolate, coating them in rich cocoa powder, and savoring the delectable result—you'll undoubtedly be thrilled to discover that I'm speaking of none other than the remarkable Walnut tree.
That's a good point, Squirrels are not an issue where we are growing Walnuts but I know they can be in the Northern countries where Grey Squirrels have been introduced. I visited Martin Crawford's orchards a few years back and his solution was to place traps around the orchard. The traps would not cause physical pain to the squirrels but they would be put down with an air rifle when the traps were checked every few days in any case.
“apocalypse-proof asset”, that's a lovely, attention-grabbing description! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge :)
thank you !
great article on walnut, many thanks. One pest not mentioned - squirrels - any experience at dealing with would be appreciated, cheers!

haha you're so lucky not to have grey squirrels, they're the only pest of walnuts & hazelnuts that we have, thousands of them!
