A friend’s passion project that turns climate metrics into a visual playground.
I’m absolutely thrilled to share an awesome new project created by my talented friend, Lyubomir Durankev.
Say hello to MetriClima.
If you are someone who loves maps, data, or just understanding the world a little bit better, this has the potential to be your new favorite rabbit hole.
What is MetriClima?
Lyubomir has created a free-to-use tool that lets you explore and understand climate metrics for any location on Earth. While many climate websites exist, MetriClima distinguishes itself with its intuitive design and crystal-clear visuals.
I’ve only just started digging into it and I can already see so much potential.
Whether you are a researcher, a student, or just a curious soul wondering about the climate in your own backyard, this tool offers a way to visualize complex data that usually gets lost in spreadsheets or scientific jargon.
For example you can look up your hardiness zone—the very thing that tells you which plants will actually survive in your garden. No more guessing whether that beautiful perennial you bought will make it through winter. Just punch in your location, and MetriClima gives you the data you need to grow smarter.
Want to know your average annual rainfall? there is a neat map for that too.
Why I’m Excited
It is rare to see a project that combines technical depth with such a clean user experience. Lyubomir has managed to make climate data feel approachable.
It's worth noting the app is still in beta, so there's lots more to come. I'm really curious to see what new layers and features he rolls out next—and with more datasets on the way, the accuracy will only get better. Solid foundation, exciting roadmap ahead
