In our latest instalment of polyculture designs, we've created a small and wonderful garden oasis measuring just 4.5m². This harmonious blend of beauty, sustenance, and wildlife habitat is adaptable for gardens of all sizes. With this arrangement, you'll enjoy the delights of homegrown apples from August to October, while the alluring Allium plants grace your garden with their edible leaves, flowers, and bulbs throughout the year.

In the kitchen, apples and Alliums may not share the same plate, but in the garden, they form a perfect partnership. Alliums are renowned for their natural pest-repelling qualities, making them an ideal companion for apple trees, helping ward off nuisances like aphids.

Beyond the delicious harvest it yields, this polyculture has the potential to transform your garden into a thriving ecosystem, teeming with diverse life and ecological vitality. It's a celebration of both aesthetics and sustainability, demonstrating how even a small garden space can contribute to a healthier, more vibrant environment.

Before we get into the details of how to create this polyculture, if you are not accustomed to our polyculture profiles you may find it helpful to look over this Polyculture Profile Layout post before or after reading the profile. You will find a description of the profile layout and some general notes to consider, should you wish to try and grow the polyculture yourself.
